Three Days in Jaipur: A Practical First Visit

Three days gives Jaipur enough room for its old-city monuments, Amber and a slower look at crafts and food. The key is to keep the hill forts together and avoid crossing the city between every stop.

Day one: the old city

Begin around City Palace and Jantar Mantar, then walk toward Hawa Mahal and the surrounding bazaars. Pause for lunch and keep the evening light; the lanes are more rewarding when you are not racing.

Day two: Amber and the hills

Leave early for Amber Fort and give it proper time. Add one nearby viewpoint or fort only if the weather and energy are right, then return for a relaxed evening.

Day three: choose your Jaipur

Use the last day for a museum, craft workshop, garden or food walk that matches your interests. This is a better use of time than repeating a long fort commute.

  • Check official monument access before departure.
  • Carry water for exposed walks.
  • Keep shopping time flexible and compare before buying.
